Sri Vishvakse:ne:shti – “For success in all endeavors and Satru nivaranam”
Being successful and victorious in life is essential for everyone in all fields of life - A student seeks success in his exams. An employee longs for promotions. A sportsman aims for perfection in his sport. A singer wishes to improve her singing skills. Those who fight for the country want victory and so are the people that fight to protect the citizens. Even those that lead spiritual lives seek success as well, in their spiritual practices.
‘VijayaprApti’ means to ‘carry on the activities without any obstacles or interruptions’. Not having ‘vighnas’ or obstacles, is a sign of success. To achieve success without any obstacles, one should pray Vishvaksena.
Vishvasksena is a resident of Vaikuntha. He is the one that protects the entire universe. He is the one that protects Lord Sri Maha Vishnu and his palace in Vaikuntha. It si said that Lord Vishnu assigns the task of protecting the entire universe to Vishvaksena, while he spends time with hois consort Sri MahaLakshmi. The great act done with PanchAyudhAs (five wepons) by the Lord can be done efficiently by this illustrious commander-in-chief. Vishvaksena is the beloved bhakta of the Lord and the Lord is the beloved to Vishvaksena.
We need the grace of Vishvaksena for defeating the enemies and achieving victory. In an effort to educate the world of this, Lord Brahma has asked Lord Vishnu, the question. Lord Vishnu replied with the ‘hOma vEdana (vedic procedure thru fire), the ‘Vishvakse:ne:shti’.

This Ishti helps defeat the enemies and provides victory. This Ishti also eradicates the inner enemies and One achieves spiritual victories along with the physical ones.
