Ishti Sa:la

“Ye shavo:stu Istha Ka:madhuk” -  Yagna is the tool for fulfilling all desires/wishes……  according to Holy BhagavadGita which describes Yagna as the tool for fulfilling all the earthly desires.

To lead a wish-free life as service to God is the best way to attain Moksha (salvation).  However, if and when there exists a wish, the Lord Himself has shown us the proper  procedure to fulfill that wish.   In order to achieve the desired, one should also overcome the obstacles in its path.

Isthi is the Vedic ritual performed to fulfill our wishes and get rid off the unwanted.   In the great Epic Ramayana, the popular “Putraka:me:sthi” (Putra Ka:ma Isthi),  performed by King Dasaradha, is such an Isthi.

The significance of Ishtis in the present day world is proved by His Holiness Sri Pedda Jeeyan Swamiji in 1972 in Tirumala Hills when he successfully performed the “karIri Ishti” wishing for the onset of rains.

Srimannarayana Samhitha has described in detail, the Ishtis needed to be performed to fulfill the wishes in a proper manner.  Our Acharyas (Spiritual Gurus) have clearly specified the specific Ishtis to be performed to fulfill specific wishes/desires in:  education, health, removal of planetary ailments, wealth, employment, victory, business agriculture……etc.

During the “Sri Yagam”, a vedic event scheduled in New Jersey in July 2010, under the guidance of His Holiness Sri Sri Sri Tridandi Srimannaryana Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji,  in a divine Ishti Sala, divine prayers will be offered and Homas (sacred offerings through Fire) will be performed to fulfill the wishes of the devotees.
