Prayer #5 (Wednesday, July 28, 2010)

O Merciful God! Daya:nidhe: ! Your compassion has no bounds. You, are the All Pervasive one. You choose to appear in a form to save these souls. Poor souls we are, craving always for mundane things, neglecting the eternal riches. As a result of our own arrogance, we are sinking deep into this temporal world.

Though undeserved we are, You come down all the way to save us. You take several forms to fulfil our needs. We go through millions of births as driven by the force of our Karmic waves. You have no Karmic bondages. You have only mercy, on us. She forces You to save us from our Karmas. As a result of that force, You accept countless births. Our birth cycle may be cut down by Your mercy. But, Your births are never ending, for, Your births absolutely come out of Your mercy. There will be no end to your births, as your mercy never ends. In spite of the worst sins we commit, we expect decency in our births! You observe no limit in taking birth through different bodies. We call them Avatha:ra:s. Ours’ are births but, Yours are Avatha:ras. We are born, but, You Appear. We go through the cycle of births helpless. Whereas, You descend at Your Will to give a lift to us.

O’ Personified Mercy ! What a kind of Avatharas You have chosen, to help us! A fish, a turtle, a boar, a Lion, a Swan, a plant, a stone… what Not ! You observe No limits at all… in taking any form to save us.

Your Fish form, ‘Matsya Avathara’ came to rescue all the souls from a great Tsunami.

You became a turtle ‘Ku:rma:vatha:ra’, to protect the life from demons and bless us with nectar.

As Divine Boar, You revealed the process of transforming our activities as Yajna, and became the supporter of knowledge.

You never hesitate even to beg things from us, though everything was given by You only. You are happy even with a little positive attitude in us. Your Vamana avatha:ra is a standing example for that.

Though you are able to crush us down to the dust, You allow us to learn by ourselves, by seeing Your practice. You have proved it through Your Rama Avathara and Parasurama Avatara.

Is it necessary for You to play for a bowl of butter? Do You need to steal anything when, everything is given by You only? You do all these things, only to attract our attention and make us think of You always, so that we would be saved.

That’s why; we adore your boundless compassion. To save us, You ignore your own greatness, Your own Powers, Your own wealth and appear as if, You are depending on us ! You allow us to feel as if; we are doing great favor to You. How can we count all Your qualities and activities exhibited for us to emancipate us from this egotistic life?

We simply bow before you O Ocean of compassion, Karuna Sindho:! Allow us to realize your grace on us. Bless us with the wisdom to lead a humble and simple life!
